Governments and local authorities are increasingly digitising administrative procedures (i.e. online forms, digital transactions, etc.) in order to facilitate exchanges between users and administrations and optimise the management of all procedures.

58% of French public officials believe that administrative procedures are the priority area for digital transformation. Today, 80% of these procedures are still done via paper forms; by January 1, 2022, 100% of the procedures should be digitised.

Inter-administration data exchanges based on open and secure APIs will allow new services and applications to develop shared by a varied ecosystem made up of the administration, voluntary sector, the private sector, etc.

In 2018, the UK tax administration HMRC has opened six APIs that allow third-party developers to access data such as individual income. New third-party applications using these APIs have reduced the need for user-officer interaction by 16%.
